Cyra ~ Part 8 of Mandala Madness

Part 8 of Mandala Madness is complete.

And here's a close-up of the outside edge.
Those long 'spiky' stitches were a bit on the fiddly side to keep in place.

I have been in the garden a lot lately and have started a new wild-flower area that I hope will be a great show of colour in a couple of months. Thanks to Angela, for the idea and inspiration for this.
Also, have been working on my vegie patch.

One other thing for this week.
We have been adopted by Billie. Her previous owner lived in this house, and Billie wants to stay here.
We renamed her Billie because her original name was Furry, which seems rather 'non-personal' to me. The name Billie came about from Billy Fury (hahaha).

The Mandela just keeps getting better. You've got a great sense of color going in it. Have fun working in your garden. And give Billie a scratch for me.

This is just beautiful. Will you be able to share the pattern when the CAL is completed? Thank you

Your Mandala is gorgeous, Cy, and so creative! Love your color choice, too. Ginger and Mocha approve of Billie's name! He's lucky to have found you!

Looks like a cat happy and comfortable with the changes in life! The crochet is fabulous. Each week it gets better and prettier than the week before.

Thanks everyone. It's definitely growing.

Bren - the pattern for Mandala Madness is free online on Helen Shrimpton's web page:
has all the weekly parts as they are released.
Up to week 9 at the moment. There will be 18 in total.

I love watching your Mandala grow each week. Each time I see it, I love it more and more. Great colour choices. Do you know how big it will get? Or is it a surprise to you, too? Halfway there.

Suz, the Mandala has a suggested finished size which will vary depending on what thickness of yarn is being used, and the size of the hook will vary it even more.
Double Knit yarn and a 4mm or 4.5mm hook will give a finished size of 60 - 70 inches.
Aran or worsted weight yarn and a 5.5mm hook will give you more like 90 inches.
I am using cotton thread about size 10 and a 1.75mm hook. I don't know the finished size yet, but up to round 9 it is about 24 inches now.
