Angela ~ No Embroidery Again

Alas, no embroidery from me again.  I spent several days feeling poorly, no real malady I could name, maybe my body was just tired of the triple digit heat.  I have also been helping my folks with some things and spent one fun day picking and juicing prickly pear fruit.
The bottom photo is the wonderful steam juicer my friend has that made this so very easy.
You can check my blog for the full story if you are interested.

I think anyone would be suffering in that heat. Hope you are feeling better now.

I'm fine now, I limit my tine outside when it goes over 95. A couple years ago the average high for August was 114 fahrenheit, glad I missed that. According to the weather predictions it is supposed to slowly get cooler this month til we are in the 80's again, I'm looking forward to that.

You didn't mention that prickly pears have killer spines, so I'm glad you survived the cooking process. I one picked up a piece of this plant from a n'bog and the spines went clear through the garden gloves. They are scary!

This looks like a big project for hot weather, but I guess this is prickly pear season. One year when I lived in San Diego I made prickly pear jelly. It was pretty good.

Judy the spines on the fruit are very deceptive as they just look like fuzzy dots. We used tongs to pick and move them. Still managed to get a few invisible spines in my hands but after glue, tape and washing only 2 were left to work out a couple days later. More irritating than painful.
