Deborah: CQ Progress & Purple Quilt

More stitching on the red and white CQ this week. I'm taking it in stages, so these are just the seam treatments. I'm keeping this one simple, not much embellishment.

I worked on the purple quilt for Debra this weekend and I have to say that I love this. I don't know about you but I do love purple. I've got a couple of pieces of purple yardage that will make a nice narrow border, for starters; then I'll go from there. Still have lots of 5" blocks.

Here's a peek:

I'm sure you've all heard about our weather last week.

Deborah, your seams are lovely and really enhance your redwork embroideries! The simplicity of the palette is so attractive. I love the purple quilt. too.
Hmmm, not much snow, eh? (tongue in cheek, of course! We've had over 3' of snow so far.........which is a lot at our new place, but light for our last place.....) Did you build a snowperson?

Love the "simple" approach, especially if your fabrics have their own things goin' on. Please keep the snow!

So fun to see your blocks with familiar fabrics! Hope you are planning to add some mother of pearl buttons in there somewhere.

On the purple quilt--believe I would separate the 2 calico blocks on the right. A bit too much of a good thing (*wink*) in one section.

I am really liking your CQ blocks this year. The new block, seam on top right really appeals to me. The purple is looking good!

I really like how your seam treatments are an extension to the printed fabrics. Sometimes simple is good!
Who doesn't love purple?
After having a very nice 84 degree day, 2 days later we had about an inch of sleet that became ice for two days, but it's all melted today.

Tuesday, when the snow hit, the temperatures went down into the teens. Sunday it was nearly 70 degrees.

I'm sure I will be rearranging many times before I'm done. :-)

At least that snow melts into the ground for some moisture.

Suz, it wasn't that kind of snow. It was too powdery. Then it was just ice. This really is a pretty big snow for us. It happens maybe once every 3-4 years.

YEs, some busy fabrics in there, so minimal embellishment.

Oh my!..... loving the red/white combo thing you have going on there..
Purples I can live with. Someone is just gonna love having that quilt too.
Snow is not permitted here in Auckland NZ, lol. We have to travel about 3 or 4 hours before we get a glimpse of any snow on-top a mountain. Especially as it is late summer here now.

I just love your red and white blocks. The white stitching on the red is especially nice. I also like the gradations of color on the purple quilt. As for the photo, all I can say is BRRRRR!

I love the stitching on your red and white blocks. I don't know if it's minimal or not, but it seems just right.
