Debra: Sewing those 21 Baby Quilts

The quilts on the right are finished. The tops on the left are waiting.  See what I will be doing between now and Thanksgiving.  Luckily, I have some great help.  It's been very interesting to me that when I asked help arrived.  Sometimes asking is the hardest part.

They look great. Can you get more than one or two on your quilting machine?

Just remember that your help is blessed by the work too, that makes it easier to ask.

Nice to find help when it's needed, and many times people are wanting to help, but don't know how......so asking gives them purpose, direction, and that wonderful feeling of doing for others.......Happy quilting!

If I load a king sized sheet, I can put 2 across the width. Quilt those 2, roll up and add 2 more. It is part of the reason I am sticking with 45" so they fit on the 90" width batting and sheet.
That is exactly how I did the 4 that are finished.

I'm sewing borders to the ones you sent me today. Love how they are looking! They need to go under the needle next week. Susan's top is due today so the timing is perfect.

Good work, Debra! You sure keep that machine busy! Such a worthy project that will surely be much appreciated.

Thanks, yes, machines aren't of much service unless you use them!

I've been meaning to ask you how you do your binding? It is one job that always takes me way longer than anticipated.

Great work on the quilts. I've said it before, and I'll say it again.... you are a treasure.

I sew the binding to the back and bring to the front and topstitch. Remember, these quilts are to be used so everything is machine sewn and durable. For "show" quilts, I sew to the front and hand sew to the back.
2½" width folded in half and pressed.

So, is the machine motor in danger of burning out yet? =)
