Debra: New Project: Floral Embroideries

The Snowflake piece is being upstaged by this new floral piece. I am hot on the trail of some new stitching experiments. I can't seem to wrap my head around those old projects languishing in the corner. Ha! Ha!!

Wouldn't this be lovely on my front porch to usher in spring?

Debra, I really love that CQ center.

The only thing that bugs me is the butterfly block with the white background. Either I need a white border or some tea to dye that background. (Or, another block) I was trying to use up some prestitched blocks.

I had the link on my own blog but not here--those CQ centers are from Sharon's Pintangle "free" patterns. I imported them to my software and digitized them to stitch on the embroidery machine.

I am not accustomed to working so small (6" blocks) so I used her sketches as a guide. I only stitched the one block (she has something like 60) & I like how it is a crazy block but has some continuity throughout the layout.

This is beautiful, Debra! It would look great anywhere. As for that white block...what about a layer of gold or bronze organza over top to warm up the white? Would that work?

I can see this quilt brightening up any Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter day.
As for the butterfly block with the bright white area.... you could always 'find' (or stitch) nine more blocks so that you could add another column on the right, and another row at the bottom. Then the butterfly block would look perfect where it is in the middle of the whole quilt. <3

I am sewing this wallhanging at this moment -- I moved the "white butterfly" block to the outer corner. I am embroidering 3 more (part of a set of 5) for the other 3 corners. They will be on white(ish) backgrounds too with dark corners. Then, I'll add a solid border around with these blocks as corners.

I don't want to spend enormous amts of time on this project so I think this is a good solution.

I like the crazy pieced blocks mixed with the design blocks. Tea dye the light block? It didn't bother me until I read your comment!
