Deborah: UFO Progress

Completed Block 2:

Baby quilt top is finished. This is the disappearing nine patch I've made for my niece who is due in July. Blogger is not cooperating this morning  - I can't get the picture any larger at the moment.

from Baltimore Bouquets by Mimi Dietrich.

This one is so much simpler than the last one, I should be able to finish it before next week.  I have it traced & pieces ready to cut out.

You are on a roll! Nice work! I love the applique, and am sure the baby quilt will be a hit. You've been BUSY!

Thanks. The only problem is that there are two blocks of the same print next to each other in the baby quilt and it's driving me crazy. I''m trying to resist ripping out one block and working a different print in there. do you think the baby will mind? :-)

I think it is fine. Move forward.

No one will know if you don't tell them.
Your applique is so pretty, can't wait to see the next one you do.

If it bothers you, rather than ripping out the block, why not add a layer of organza over it, just to change it slightly, or embroider the baby's name there and/or the date of birth. That will make it look different as well as personalize it. Just an idea....

Love your finished block # 2! The colours are beautiful, and the stitching is so precise. Nice finish.

Seemed challenging at first but after a couple of those flowers, it wasn't so bad. I like the embroidery on this one.

It bugs me but not enough to bother with it.

Thanks, I'm almost halfway done with the next block.

Block #2 looks wonderful, and I like the plan for Block #3. These are going to be great additions. On the baby quilt, I didn't really notice the two together, so I guess it didn't bother me at all.

Applique block #2 = I love the colours, the shapes, the texture, the flowers, the leaves, the tendrils, the buds.......I expect you understand by now that I love the whole thing.

Baby quilt = On my first look at this quilt I did not register the two blocks of the same fabric next to each other. When I read your comment about this 'problem' I had to go back to see what I had missed the first time. I searched over and over again, looking for two blocks of the same fabric next to each other. I did EVENTUALLY find it, but it took me quite a while to see it. If you hadn't mentioned it......I'd have been none the wiser......I would not have know it was there. Just thought I'd let you know that it REALLY doesn't jump out at me as a problem.

Applique block #3 = I'm looking forward to seeing your version of this block.

THanks, Cy!

I'm being sort of facetious about it bugging me; of course it's the first thing I focus on. :-)

I am really pleased with the way the applique blocks are turning out. I think that was the right way to go with this quilt. Last night I got the stems and leaves done on the next block.
