Deborah - Rethinking

I have moved on from the idea of CQ blocks between the appliques, and will do another 4 applique blocks from the book, Baltimore Bouquets by Mimi Dietrich using a similar color palette as those on the outer border. I'm undecided about the two blocks in between the appliques but I'll think of something.

You could just use the 4 blocks you have as corners to that really nice green border and get started on the handquilting. I think that would be very lovely as is. Keeping it simple highlights the applique you have already done.

Unless you just want to do more applique; but I thought you had reached your limit there.

I like Debra's idea, too. But, if you want more applique blocks, then I think using that light fabric as plain blocks in between them would be striking.

That will be a completely different look to the quilt. The fabric seems to bring out the color of the straight line in the center of the quilt.

I agree, so it takes one right into the center of the quilt, and then the eye will examine those pretty blocks.

The light green is so much fresher than the dark browns and oranges previously. Now it looks like spring!

You could also do some patchwork blocks. Maybe something like a bit of a sampler with each block different. Maybe a set of basket blocks.

Plain blocks work so well here Deborah, and I like the colour of these. Yes, very fresh looking and they make the outer applique blocks stand out more.

There are some simpler appliques in the book that I will probably do and use either plain or patchwork in between. Unless I change my mind.... :-)

What about some redwork blocks? maybe with baskets/bouquets? Redwork looks so pretty with handquilting.

Decisions, decisions! Hard sometimes to decide what to do when putting your work together. I do like your Applique, think I would like to see white blocks in between on the borders rather than the green, think it would make your center stand out. That is my thinking.
