Cy ~ Stitching or Housework?

Stitching or Housework?
It's a dilemma, I know.
Yes I am guilty of letting the housework lapse because
I just HAVE to finish.....  >enter your project here<

.......this crazy quilt block
.....or that embroidered part on the 'other' project
.....or another couple of rows of crochet
.....or read another chapter or two of this gripping novel

I digress.

Over the weekend I have suddenly that discovered that not only do I need to be in the right frame of mind for stitching, I actually NEED to be in the right physical place as well.
Is that weird?

This is how I found that eureka moment.
My hubby has suffered with back problems for quite a few years.
Late last year he discovered that sitting on MY arm chair helped ease his back pain, and so he claimed my chair as his.
I don't mind giving up my chair at all, anything to ease his pain is ok with me.
But this weekend, while I was doing the housework, I changed all the chairs around so that my, new chair, is where my old one was by the French window, which is where he has been sitting ever since taking over my good chair.
What a remarkable difference it has made to my stitching in just a few days. I am back to being enthusiastic about it and have a much clearer idea of what I want to stitch (I have been in a bit of a muddle this year over stitching). I hadn't realized that moving to another chair in another part of the lounge room had dulled a part of my stitching enthusiasm.

So, since my spring cleaning  housework on Sunday, and changing the furniture around, here are some stitching progress photos.

My CHANCE project - Free Form at it's finest

The roll of a dice, and toss of a coin, choose what I do, what colour I use, what shape it is, and where it goes.
I was meant to be using the TAST stitches for this, but have not incorporate them in these pieces......yet.

Chance #2

Chance #3

Chance #4

The Stained Glass Rose Window is double what it was last week.
I now have six 'bits' sewn up, which is a half of the complete Rose window shape.

I have also been crocheting for the IFFCG challenge. A project that is to be completed sometime in May, but must not be shown online until the final show is published.
I will share that piece when THE SHOW goes public.

Happy Stitching

Chance # 3 is very pretty.

I avoid housework at all times; just do enough to keep the place presentable.

I like the little blips on your rose petals. I wasn't sure if the effort was worth it but in masse, they will show nicely.

I understand the need for a good stitching space. Top priority at my house.

So was it the natural light from the window that made the difference? I like stitching by a window, too.
I love chance #2! The colours are great, the shapes are interesting and meandering, and looks perfect for an under the sea theme. Your 6 bits look great!

Thank you, yes, I think so too. I was thinking that this will become a series of mandalas. The roll of the dice gave me 'circles' etc.

You've taken a lot of chances this week! =) Each of them produced such different results. It's interesting that your chair made such a difference. I know that when we were in the 5th wheel I had one place I stitched, and here I have one place. I often miss the 5th wheel place, though. It was small but efficient. Now I seem to be spread out all over the place, and it still isn't as handy!

Lol Debra, is ANYTHING worth it? I wanted some continuity within the rose window pattern to show me that they were all connected in some way other than their shape. I think it worked.

Thanks Suz. For Chance #2, the dice gave me "scraps", "strips" and "irregular" (along with other things), and I love what just happened with it too.

Now I'm back in my favourite place (even if it isn't my favourite chair) I am happy to be taking this "stitching game of chance". Good job I don't take my stitching too seriously, lol.

Oh, yeah, I meant to ask; what is housework?
lol

Well, I warned you -- my motto this year is "is it worth it?" LOL!

Lol Suz..... it's that thing that I keep bribing others to do....like....

"if you want any dinner tonight you'd better clean the kitchen first",
and
"before you turn the tv on, you had better dust it first".

It's just DH and I, and he isn't falling for any of that..........ratz

Cy.....You hit the nail on the head! I like to do my stitching by my window and using my sewing table so I can spread out. :>)

I like all the chances but the free form is not really my thing, however, that dosen't mean it isn't great just not my style. I like the others very well especially #3.

I would choose stitching definitely and your "Stained Glass Rose Window" is very beautiful as about your chair I perfectly understand as I have murder over my spot when I work.
I am looking forward to see your Rose finish
