Debra: December Reveal

Final block is Red Violet. I'm happy to have worked through this project-trying all the colors on the color wheel-something I have wanted to do for awhile. Next steps will be to finish as a wallhanging. For this block I just chose some stitches I enjoyed and didn't concentrate on any specific TAST stitches. The embroidery had a "crafty" feel to it so I accented with crafty embellishments.

I like this block, Debra. Red violet can be so difficult to use, but everything looks cohesive and supports the embroidery. I like the complementary colours popping up here and there, and the repeats of buttons and flowers. Very pleasing to the eye! I really like the 'purple' heart piece with the buttons on one side and the beaded stitching on the other.

I've been away from this block awhile working on my Mother and Child blocks. Now that I look at this one, I can see I need more embellishments on thos yoyos! I'm sure once I get it together as a wallpiece, I'll be filling in. Does CQ never end?

Thanks, Suz. I was trying for a whimsical look!

I think the black and white fabrics frame the central embroidery so very well and I really like the stitching on the white flowers also the group of buttons and pinwheels. Your "fuzzy" yarn is great curled into circles, that's an idea worth filing away for later use.

I thought of you fondly while I was stitching on that fuzzy yarn!

I'm sure you did, I think you're teasing me. It seems such a long time since I delved into my fuzzy yarn collection.

Love it! I think my brain looks like this too.

Oh, I would never tease such a serious stitcher as yourself!

No joke. Been here, done this!

My brain looks like that, too, only with a few omissions. Do you have UFOs for each category like I do? LOL

I love the brain as focal point, with all that lovely creativity taking over everything - quite whimsical beginning. I was surprised to see you write you thought the yo-yos need more embellishment. I like them as is. I like the flower ribbon going at right angles to the buttons, too. Quite a great block!

No, I have discipline! Ha! ha!!!!

I'm in overembellishment mode right now. I'm sure by the time I put this puppy together, those yoyos will have calmed down!

I like this one, this applies to all of us. Not enough room in my brain for everything I want to do. I love the fuzzy yarn embellishments, too.

Yes, it's a good one to end the year! The next 2 or so days are dangerous because everyone thinks of all these grandiose ideas for the next year knowing full well they didn't get last year's grandiose ideas done!! But we are safe here in this group. We would never do that!

Of course we would never do that Debra!

That's a fabulous last block Debra. Love those yo-yo's just as they are.
Lots of things to keep looking at here. Love the button clusters and that special button at the base of her neck. I rather like the colours on this one too, even though I don't really 'see myself' as a Red/Violet person. I still get such inspiration from your pieces. It has been great following your progress throughout the year Debra. Thank you for letting me 'follow-along' with you.

You are so welcome. The pleasure has been mine!

What a fun block: There's an underlying humor to the blocks you've made in this series and the color and the hand embroidery add to the fun. The central motif is really cool. That's how my brain feels many days.
