Angela~ The Nutcracker

What would Christmas be without 'The Nutcracker'?
The knotted cable chain worked nicely to accent my nutcracker soldier.  I used 6 strands of cotton floss for it.  All other stitching is with 2 strands cotton floss in backstitch, satin stitch and french knot.
The date of the last TAST of the year fell on the anniversary of the premiere of The Nutcracker in St. Petersburg in 1892.  I bet it was a glittering night at the theatre.

I remember a music teacher telling us about Tchaikovsky when I was in 4th grade.  She said to picture a shy cow on skis and you would never forget how to pronounce his name...she was right, I have never forgotten.

Absolutely fabulous. That's a cracker of a finale for your stitch journal Angela. Well done, and congratulations on creating a unique piece of work. xx

I love your nutcracker. The color and design is perfect, and that stitch definitely looks braid-like. I'm going to miss seeing what you design for each stitch. You aren't continuing into 2013 with the new ones, I take it?

This was a lot of fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it. However it has taken a lot of time away from other projects that need doing so I won't be doing a weekly stitch next year. I found it to be a bit stressful to finish on time each week and less stress is my goal. I will be working on some UFOs though and if I can get those finished next year as well as some non-sewing projects, I will feel really good.

I just realized there is one more Tuesday in the year! I must have been looking at that Mayan calendar. Yeah, that's it!

Sharon said this stitch was the last one for this year. I think you can safely call your weekly stitches done!

Love that nutcracker! Looks like you had fun with the knotted cable too. Very effective. Merry Christmas!
