Suz-TAST-CQJP-WIPs

Hey, I said I wasn't going to do TAST this week because I'd done this stitch before when we had the chain stitch, but, I changed my mind and started this:

I added some geometric designs in a variegated green to my CQJP
My November block

I think it's finished
WIPs
On StitchMAP, I'm taking a Redwork course, and here is my modern Redwork design in colour

It was fun to choose a pattern, and then decide on the type of stitches and colours I wanted to use.
I've been doing some tatting......these are variations of my organic design, and I like to use these bits on my crazy quilting
a little test tat using some Finca thread Fox so kindly sent me.
Thanks Fox!
I added some more fabric to my Jewel block, then squared it off

auditioning some trims.......
the maybe final decisions shown against the pillow case fabric

Well, that's my week. How was yours?
As always, your comments are appreciated.
Hugs from Suz

Love love love that purple & blue tatted piece.

Thanks Lady H! The spirals are very easy to do......I can't remember who does and does not tat in our group, but if you do, I'll share the pattern with you.

Your Magic chain makes me think of a candycane. Very Christmasy! You had a productive week!

Very pleased you decided to board the magic train as your spiral is very pretty. I didn't think you could make Jewel's block more attractive, but it just gets better and better and I think my favourite is the last picture as the rose embellishment picks out the colours in the spotted fabric and the other hints of gold. Sadly I'm not yet a tatter, but every time I see your work I certainly wish I was!

That's what I was thinking as I stitched it, Judy. Great minds, eh?

Thanks Carol! I'm not sure about the rose yet. I think it's my favourite so far, but I shall set the block against the pillowcase fabric, and see how it looks. I might just leave the headband without embelishment........

oh, hey, I did that already. duh.

I love the spray of embroidered flowers bowing over Jewel's head. If you are having trouble deciding which trims to use...just use ALL of them, haha, they all look good there.
That is a lovely tatting collection you have there. One day I'll make myself sit down and give it another practice session. I am always in awe of yours.
Beautiful redwork bluebirds. That is such a sweet design. What will it be used for/on?

grrr. I hit the button before I finished commenting.
Your Christmassy CQ block is filling up nicely. What a nice stitch. Does it have a name or is it a 'Suz Special'?
The TAST spiral is a really 'stand out' stitch, especially in the colours you have used here.
A great week for you Suz, well done.

Again, you have your finger in all the stitching pies! Good work!!

The spray of flowers are tatted, Cy, but they do look like cast-on stitch flowers, too. The bluebirds will find themselves on a drawstring bag (part of the course) to hold special items I've made with the other stitching exercises. I'll post pics once they're accepted by my course mentor, and I'll show the finished bag, too.

Which stitch, Cy? The geometric on the CQJP?

Workin my fingers to the bone, Debra! ..lol....

I had a great aunt that tatted but I have no idea how to do it.

Cy said...

Yes, the geometric one.

I sort of made that one up as I went along........a row of long and short stitches......then diagonals from the bottom of a short over to the top of the second long stitch done in both directions along the line....it gives a shadow effect to the long and short with weaving above....sort of....umm, hope that's clear.... ;-D

Clear as mud thanks Suz. Definitely a "Suz Special" lol.
