Debra: September CQJP & TAST

A number of years ago I purchased some hand dyed flosses from Susan.  I am just now using them.  Here is a nice perle cotton in purples couching down several strands of crewel yarn.  My button cluster could use some ooomph.  I still plan to add drizzle to the middle of my flowers.  There's a weekend of rain predicted so I may do my drizzle stitch today.

The Knotted Buttonhole Stitch seemed vaguely familiar like we had either already stitched it or one very similiar.  Did you feel that way too?

As you can see, my stitching mojo just didn't get to full speed this month.  I hope that when I assemble all the blocks I can see what else I might add to this month's block.  At the present, I am stuck.  Your suggestions are welcome.

It looks great so far but seems to be lacking some color variation. I'd probably add in some of the colors from your center embroidered piece, especially the gold, to make it pop. Maybe some doodads or thicker flowers, etc. to give it some more dimension.

I agree that the blues are a little monochromatic, but I like it a lot. The button trail is great, and perhaps some beading meandering through some of the darker areas would spark it up?

Gold coloured drizzles would look great coming out of your buttons - love combination of dark blue and gold. Like you I thought Knotted Buttonhole seemed very familiar. Pistils with heringbone look great and as the centre patch is so attractive don't think your block needs any fancy stitching just perhaps some blue, gold and purple (sorry) stitching.

It could be that the central patch this month was so dominant that it stole the show.

I'll get a second wind here shortly and do more to the block. (She said vaguely)

The monochromatic idea may have been too severe. I might have to give in and add more color; even that pesky purple!

Yea, it's OK but not nearly as developed as my other blocks.

I like this block......soft and serene. I can visualize some gold stitching meandering around the motif (to tie in with those gold drizzles in the buttons, right?) and I think that would add a nice bit of sparkle.
I like the openness of your button trail.

I like this block too but I'm thinking it won't play well with the more embellished previous blocks.

She said with conviction!

OK, if you insist!

If I can, you can. I know I've not been creating wallhangings, but I've had a poorly arm!

You won't give me an inch, willya? LOL!

That's impressive machine embroidery! What thread were you using? It almost looks like wool. Looks good to me, but I agree a tad more color would make it great. Wow, if I had a thimble like that one, I might even use one.

I like the restraint of this block, but some yellow accents would jazz things up. I also felt like we'd done the knotted buttonhole stitch already, but I don't set much store on what I do and don't remember.

Yep, I still love that thimble, but the block could definitely benefit from some more colour. It shows rather dark on my computer screen, it may not be that dark in real life though.
I think the 'problem' may be that this block is decidedly darker than all your others in this series. All those lovely bright colours in the other blocks make this one look as though its in the shade. That's my thoughts anyways, and when I said 'problem' I don't mean it as a bad thing. Just something to work around if you feel it needs it.
To 'liven' things up - bold colourful buttons and beads in that cluster, and don't forget the shiny gold and silver ones too. I know you have a huge collection of buttons to choose from Debra, lol, time to get them out and pick some purple and pink ones mwuahahaha!!!!
And..... (are you sorry you asked for suggestions yet?)..... there are none of your couched/embroidered ribbons on this block.
