Debra: TAST- Pekinese Stitch

I totally overshadowed my Caston Stitching with this week's Pekinese Stitch. I only had 2 widths of rick rack, tiny and wide. Oh well, good thing this is a learning project. I can now see that the white ring I had planned as the ring around the black and white prints will need to be beefed up to match the rick rack's impact.  An unexpected design opportunity.

I definitely liked the Pekinese stitch and felt it was a quick and inexpensive way to get an "expensive trim" look.

This was a fun stitch for me, too, and I really like how it dresses up the rick-rack. Nice colour combo to go with the b&w!

I really enjoyed this stitch too. Love the color combination on this block, turquoise is my 2nd favorite color!

Thanks, friends! Not really giving this month's lesson my full attention so who knows how it will end up!

Love it on the rick rack. Perfect showcasing, and highlighting with the chain stitches helps accent it nicely.

I didn't even realize at first that the zig-zag at the center of your rick-rack was Pekinese stitch! You'd mentioned that you had two sizes of ric-rac and I thought you'd stacked them! heh! I should have realized sooner-- they wouldn't likely have had the same spacing between ridges.
You're right, the Pekinese stitch really does dress up the ric-rac and make it look like a much fancier trim!
I think the little cast-ons are precious. do you have any really tiny seed beads to put at the center of each one to bling it up so it doesn't get lost? Just a thought. :)

I'll do embellishing at the end but I think this is going to need more than tiny seed beads to make a statement. Unfortunately :-(

And your first favourite colour is?

Love the ric-rac row. I will be watching out for more impact seam treatments for the other parts now.
Pekinese stitch was fun.
