Judy ~ Crossed Buttonhole Stitch

Exhausted from working so hard in her garden last month, Sue just collapsed against this stump for a well earned rest. Why she insisted on wearing her tangerine-colored dress today along with her fashionable sandals, just to sit on the ground is beyond me! Sharon was right, though, you can fill an area with the crossed buttonhole stitch. It worked OK on her sleeves as well. Hope the rest of you had a fun stitching week, too.

I haven't decided if I like this stitch yet, but on Sue it looks fantastic. I especially love those sandals. Maybe this group will get me motivated, once I get my materials back from my daughters, to whip something up. I kind of feel like Sue right now.

Now that crossed buttonhole looks very good. You alternated the space where I aligned mine. Cool. Very adaptable, I can see already.

And, yes, if I were going to plop down, I think I could find something better than a stump!

No wonder Sue's having a rest she had to prop up the gate for such a long time last month! Pretty stitching and looking forward to seeing your flowers.

Poor Sue, I think I can relate today though, went to 3 thrift stores and the grocery store, all in one go.
I love her sandals, I need to keep that in mind for future projects!

I sympathize with Sue-- all tuckered out from gardening. At least she has a couple a flowers to sniff as she rests. And, my,how stylish is she for working in the dirt! She'll ruin those spiffy sandals!

Taking time to rest and admire her labors--commendable. You've used this stitch very effectively!

Aha! Yet another variation of crossed buttonhole on the shoes. I like the 'lattice' effect you have stitched there. Makes the shoes look summery and lacey.

You are having so much fun telling SBS's story! Nice use of the crossed blanket stitch for her shoes and the edge of her sleeve. :)
