Carolynn update

Still working along on my Family piece! I'm making progress toward the due date: June 12!

Here is the whole project so far:

Some new details:  the center motif is started, and in the lower right, you can see a piece of crochet work I've added, held down by ribbon and with a ribbon and French knot flower in the middle:

I've used the wheatear stitch as a motif:

And added another button motif:

When I finish the border motifs, I'll attach batting and a back, and then sew on beads and buttons in various places as a way to do the "quilting."  I'll stitch in the ditch with clear thread around each block at the border, and hope that will be enough to keep the piece from sagging.  So I'm seeing the end in sight!

This is fabulous, Carolynn. Who's the lucky recipient? I just love your center motif! Also like the way you "nailed" down the crocheted piece and the center ribbon flower which is a perfect addition. Your recipient is going to love this and be impressed with your skill.

This is absolutely gorgeous Carolynn. I love the crochet square treatment and your embroidery on the centre sashing.Your sense of 'balance' is amazing for these blocks. The whole quilt ties together so well.
I've said it before, but I'll say it again, this is definitely an heirloom quilt to treasure.

It's so rich, and lovely with all your hand-stitched motifs. I love the warmth of the colours you've used, too. This project has a timeless quality about it.

Absolutely beautiful work Carolynn. All of your embroidered motifs are created with skill and add so much to the overall effect. Anyone should feel honored to receive such a quilt.

I so love this whole piece! That center part just pushes it to a whole new level of beauty. The new button piece is another favorite part. I just love the way you do the leaves.
