I love this little photo of Sharon's chain with the lazy daisy. Wouldn't that be good with snowflakes instead of roses for my Christmas wallhanging? Gives me an idea! *wink*
I like it, too. The snowflakes would be great with it! I'll look forward to seeing your adaptation. =)
Good way to use our Carole Samples' templates too. Maybe I will sit down and stitch this tonight.
I have been working my variation of Sharon's band on my Christmas wallhanging-- and feeling quite good about it too. I decided to give Carole's book a quick look and there are quite a few variations of that same band. One even looks like it has a snowflake on it. (pg. 134) Pg 130 has a very nice selection on connected chain stitches that form links and are then filled in with motifs. Clearly, just scratching the surface here. Nothing is ever really new!
I used this chain pattern on my Feb CQJP block (at the bottom of the 4th photo down on my last blog post here). The middle of my chains have satin stitch diamonds, and I softened the hard edge with the chains. It is a very adaptable stitch pattern.I look forward to seeing it on your wallhanging Debra.
Yes, now I see that. It looks like you stitched it after the diamonds. I stitched my curve first and filled in afterwards. I may try it your way next time.I will go on record as saying I love the chain stitch!
